Families in Need Results

Well Southern Oregon, you did not let us down! You stepped up to the challenge put before you and far exceeded expectations. As many of you may know, during the month of November, our credit union partnered with KTVL Channel 10 on their Families In Need campaign. Rogue contributed a gift of $1,000 for the winner of the campaign, chosen by KTVL and in addition placed collection jars in each of our branches for donations. The original goal was to raise an additional $1,000 to give another local family a helping hand. That goal was blown out of the water as Rogue and the community contributed nearly $3,300 this holiday season to help Families in Need.

This does not surprise me; Rogue has some great members and employees who really know when it’s time to step up to the plate. KTVL ran on-air promotions inviting people in need of help, or those that knew of people in need, to go online and nominate a family. The community response was phenomenal, generating over a million hits. During the course of the drive nearly 180 families signed up for an opportunity to receive help. The generous donations from members and employees were divided amongst 10 families in hopes of making a small, but much needed, difference in their lives.

It was a privilege to participate in this campaign to lighten and brighten the lives of so many families. My heart was warmed as we made the prize presentations to the chosen families – many of them telling me that they were going to “pay it forward” by helping out other community organizations this holiday season. That’s what makes our community great! We know that in difficult times, we will not only survive but will thrive because we join together to help everyone get through. Families in Need was an opportunity for Southern Oregon to prove that is that kind of community! Thank you so very much for your generous donations and participation!

Our credit union will continue to be actively involved in finding ways to help folks weather the financial crisis. The Building Hope foreclosure prevention and assistance seminars will begin again in the New Year. Our staff continues to be ready and willing to lend a listening ear and take a personal look at your financial situation through Rogue Solutions, a member loan counseling program. We simply want to be a trusted resource that folks can turn to.
